Luster

During the Spanish colonial period, capiz shells were often used in windows instead of glass as they were easier to obtain and also filtered the light nicely. The Latin name of this shell is Placuna placenta, but it is also called windowpane oyster.

Capiz plays a starring role in four unique designs of our Luster collection. Each design, which is available as a tile, features a striking relief thanks to a creative technique: threads are glued onto the subsurface, after which water-soaked capiz is printed onto this pattern. Each design is available in two neutral and two bolder hues with a luxurious, natural pearlescent sheen.
