As a leading interior design brand, we pride ourselves on the constant flow of original ideas and designs that come out of our Design Studio, and developing new techniques to put these innovative ideas into practice.
Manila
One of the most striking examples of this approach is our Manila wallpaper: a collection that is all about cords, albeit used in a very different way.
The designer used different types of threads with different thicknesses
Join us for a look behind the scenes of our Design Studio to find out how this unique collection came about. Like so many good designs, it all started with a simple idea: one of our designers wanted to create something with cords. She looked for different types of threads in various thicknesses, drawing on patterns in tropical Manila, the capital of the Philippines, for inspiration.
Handwork
The designer then combined the cordes she found in different designs, arranging them in various patterns and glueing them to a solid surface – the kind of meticulous, time-consuming artisanal process that requires a lot of dedication. In the next step, we created a vinyl version of her design, using high-quality, thick vinyl, which we embossed with a deep relief for a hyper-realistic end result.
The threads were arranged in a pattern and glued by hand
Tropical and soothing
All the patterns come in several natural shades, enhancing the rough, textured and casual look and feel of rope. Our Manila wallpaper infuses the space with a tropical yet soothing atmosphere, two elements that are often difficult to combine. The designs have already been used around the world in a wide range of projects, from stylish living rooms to luxurious hotel suites.
